A COLLECTION OF DESIGN…

PROJECTS FROM SCHOOL

  • TYPOGRAPHIC DESIGN 01

For this project, I designed a poster with the content all coming from an interview. The design had to match the tone of the interview in a creative way. The interview I chose was of Jean-Michel Basquiat. My method behind this project was to emulate his iconic style to the best of my ability using similar techniques that he used. I started by laying down a foundation of type in Illustrator writing all of the interview questions out in the Baskerville. While in the inverse is that all of Basquiat’s responses were written in sharpie and scanned in. I did this to show the contrast between Basquiat and the interviewers.

  • KCWU POSTER 01

This was a poster for my school’s radio station. The show host wanted reminiscent of the wild wild west. This was a mostly illustrated project.

  • TYPOGRAPHIC DESIGN 02

A big inspiration behind this design was David Carson. I love how he breaks the rules of design and creates something eye-catching and unique to him. Playing primarily with shapes and texture, I wanted to see how experimental I could get with type. This project uses a scanned texture I made with paint, photoshopped images, and type that I altered to match.

  • EVENT DESTINATION POSTER V1

This poster is part of an entire mock event system I was tasked to complete. Depending on the event and where it was, we had to try and capture the region within the design. The event I chose was in Sweden. I initially designed the poster with more of a playful feel to it seen in “Event Destination Poster V2”. Using lighter colors and more expressive shapes. However, I found that the theme was a little too indirect. Event Destination Poster V1 was the final draft and the tie to Sweden becomes a little more clear with the colors. I approached it with the idea that I was going to use design principles that are seen commonly over in Europe and especially in areas like Sweden.

  • KCWU POSTER 02

Another poster designed for my school’s radio station. This show host ran a show that had a soft feel with the main genre being alternative indie or soft indie rock. Her requests were that it have a a somewhat modern take on vintage designs while avoiding the boho look. She also asked for ducks and wildflowers which I hand illustrated to make it more personal. The stipple texture was used to add depth and add to that indie feel.

  • STATIONARY SYSTEM

This project involved critical designing thinking due to the sheer number of assets. I designed an entire stationary system as well as products for my given organization. This included designing a letterhead, envelope, business card, and more for the organizations while coming up with new and innovative ways to incorporate their values and quirks into the design. I also illustrated a custom typographic pattern for the design.

  • SOURCE POSTER

Tasked with designing the marketing system for the 2023 SOURCE Expo., I went in with the intent to make something that was eye-catching and felt inclusive. I believe that when adding an illustrative element to any design, it feels more personal. I chose to illustrate a variety characters — wanting this campaign to feel warm and welcoming.

  • BAND POSTER

For this project my aim was to take the Shoegaze genre of music that Slowdive is categorized into, and create a graphic that best supports that sound. Creating a dream-like setting, viewers may feel some sense of belonging to or a feeling of familiarity.
